Big Sky Country- Part 1 -Townsend MT, July 2016

 Montana

(July 12-20, 2016)

There is a reason Montana is called Big Sky Country.
The only other place I've ever been where the sky is
seemingly endless is Africa.

We love going to the farm every summer. We usually go at the end of August, mainly because our girls insist on going when the corn is on. This year we went a month early as we will be on another fun vacation at the end of August!

Luckily, it worked out again this year that we overlapped a few days with the Baker's so we were able to have some time playing with them.  We also got to spend a couple of days with 2 of the Scoffield boys and Lisa and Russ.  My girls love their cousins!

They were all sad to say goodbye to Trevor and Hayden.

I didn't see much of my girls when the Baker's were around.  They had a great time playing outside. Kiely and Elin even did a play for us again this summer.  Anikka had a part, but refused to participate at the last minute.

They got to sit in Papa's combine. I'm still not sure if they just sat in it or actually had a ride.

The night before the Baker's left we went to the river to make s'mores

 and play in the river.

We sent the last few days in Townsend playing at the farm, picking raspberries, and hanging out.

We went to Helena for their annual Symphony Under the Stars at Carroll College.  We had Thai food, rode the carousel, had ice cream and then enjoyed the concert and fireworks.

The last time we were at Symphony Under the Stars was nine years ago when I first came to Montana with James to meet his family.    Here we are now.

On our last night in Townsend we also had a visit from Hunter who was moving to Bozeman.  Anikka sure loves him!  When he first got to the house she came to me and told me "Hunter is here but he hasn't hugged me and he always likes to hug me".  So, we remedied that situation.

The last two days of our trip to Montana were spent in Yellowstone Park.   We took so many pictures that I will post as a separate blog.

......to be continued.....
