Nifty 50 - Steamboat Springs CO, Sept 10-13, 2021

Wow,  It’s been a month since I turned 50.  For my birthday we went on a 3 day trip to Steamboat Springs. We drove there on Friday afternoon with a quick stop for dinner in Vail to see Russell and Lisa who were there for a few days.

We stayed at the Wyndham Resort in Steamboat and had a nice 2 bedroom condo.

On Saturday we went to the Farmers Market.

Then in the afternoon we went to Strawberry Hot Springs.

It was, by far, the best hot springs I have ever been to. The setting was so gorgeous up in the mountains.  We soaked for 2 hours.

For dinner we went to our favorite CO pizza place called BeauJo's.

On Sunday we swam in the resort pool

Then went on a hike to Fish Creek Falls.

We had dinner and cake at the condo that evening.

Monday was my actual birthday.  We had cinnamon rolls for breakfast

Then checked out of the condo and headed for home through Rocky Mountain National Park.

It was a beautiful day in Grand Lake where we stopped to get sandwiches to eat in the park.

It was a little chilly at 10,000 feet where we stopped to eat.

But we saw beautiful scenery as we drove through the park.

We even saw a moose!

I had a perfect, relaxing birthday weekend.  Here’s to the next 50 years!

Kali Cakes is Married!! - Rexburg, ID August 6-8, 2021

My oldest niece on the Gillespie side, Kali, got married on August 7th.  We drove from Montana to Rexburg for a few nights to attend her wedding.

We traveled to Rexburg the afternoon of Anikka's birthday. She was less then thrilled to not have the afternoon to do what she wanted.  And when we got to Rexburg, the place she wanted to eat was closed so we had to make food at our Airbnb.  She ended up coming up with a concoction of pasta filled bread.

All our family in town for the wedding came over to have a "cake party".

Luckily, she ended up having a great time with her cousins so it made up for the not as fun afternoon.

It was also fun to have some family to help us celebrate. We don't normally get to spend birthdays with so much family (we celebrated with GG and Papa in MT in the morning).

The next day (Saturday Aug 7 - wedding day) we spent the morning walking around BYUI, we had lunch with Leina and her kids and took Ani to a skate park to test out her new skateboard.

In the late afternoon, we had wedding pictures in the park

Then we went to the wedding ceremony and reception.

It was a beautiful ceremony.

Dinner and the reception/dance were super fun and we partied the night away.

They had a fun photo booth.

It was a great day and so fun to spend some time with family.  It was a beautiful wedding that was exactly how Kali wanted it.  I was so happy to be able to be there to support her.
