Rocky Mountain High (Ignacio, CO June 2016)

Colorado 2016
(June 20-27)

A few days after school ended the girls and I traveled to Colorado for our annual trip to Grandma and Grampy's house.  James joined us there a few days later.  My girls are amazing travelers and this trip I asked extra of them...both coming and going we had really late arrivals due to not so great frequent flier mile scheduling.  Long days of traveling and late night arrivals (it was 1 am by the time we got to my parents house) but they did great.  As always, kind strangers complimented me on how well behaved they are. We started them traveling as babies and it has paid off.

Wasting time in DEN due to delayed flight

Leaving DEN at 11:20 pm Ani was not too excited to be sitting across the aisle from me

But they both fell asleep in the first 5 minutes of the 44 minute flight to DRO.

In the weeks leading up to our trip the girls were making a list of all the things they wanted to do in Colorado.  It's the same list as every summer:

-First and most importantly, THE COUSINS!  lots of lots of playtime with Deekon (11), Lincoln (9) and Mia (2).

-Swimming at the rec center in Ignacio

-Playing in the mud (Elin's favorite)

-Park

-Swimming at the Durango Rec Center pool

Anikka got to go the the Durango pool twice with her cousins. Elin and I had to stay home the first time because she had the stomach flu the night before.

-Popsicles every day after lunch

As an added bonus, the ice cream truck came by one evening so they had popsicles twice that day.

-They also did play-doh, picked strawberries, made s'mores and played in the sprinklers/wading pool.

This year we went to Lemon Lake one afternoon for a picnic lunch and swim in the lake.

When you play hard you also sleep hard.

They asked the day before we left if we could stay "6 more days".

We love our family so much and can't wait for next summer.
