While James was on a work trip to NY for 2 weeks, the girls and I took a trip to Ignacio to see my family. Since this is the summer of National Park visits (and we have a free pass this year) we stopped by Sand Dunes National Park for a quick visit. It is just about halfway between Colorado Springs and Ignacio. The creek was even still running a little. The water comes from spring run off in the mountains and while you would think it would be cold, it was really warm. We didn’t have enough time on this trip to rent sleds and ride down the dunes.
This is the view coming into Pagosa. It’s always been one of my favorites.
The next day (Saturday) we went to the San Ignacio parade. The girls collected ALOT of candy.
A few other fun things we did:
-The girls had a pajama day... we made pizza for dinner.
-they made a glow party for us in Mummu’s bedroom. We all crowded in and had a dance party and snacks.
-We went to the park and swam
-Made cinnamon rolls
-played in the mud and did water balloons.
-Then made slime.... and taught Pentti and Amy how to make it.
-We even had time for snuggles and a play doh cafe.
On Thursday, July 29th we celebrated Elin’s 11th birthday.
We started with a cousin sleep over at Mia’s the night before.
We had breakfast at Oscar’s house
Presents at Mummu’s (from her parents)
And cake after lunch followed by a few more presents (grandparents and Aunts/Uncles)
We spent the afternoon playing
and had Navajo tacos for dinner
What a fun birthday!
The next day (as always) I like to take a few pictures before leaving to remember who we saw on our trip.
Then we drove home to Colorado Springs. I always enjoy the times we get to see family especially the east coast family that we don’t see as often as we would like.
