Girls Weekend - Cannon Beach OR June 2017

Wow!  For a family that loves to travel, somehow we took a10 month hiatus.  I really don't know how that happened.  Well, yes, I do. Two kids in school and expensive traveling on holidays.  But I was honestly surprised when I pulled up my blog and realized we have not gone ANYWHERE since August of last year. Not even a weekend trip to Canada.  CRAZY!  Luckily, we have moved forward and we have several trips on the books for summer.

In early June, James went to Salt Lake to attend a wedding.  So, while the Dad's away...the girls will play.   I took my littles to one of my favorite places on earth.....Cannon Beach OR.  As a single lady living in Portland many years ago, I went to Cannon Beach a lot with friends. It's a very special place for me and always makes my heart happy.   I think my girls now feel the same.

We drove down on a Friday afternoon and made it to the beach just in time for sunset.

This trip we stayed at The Waves which is a hotel right in the middle of downtown Cannon Beach, one block from the shops and half a block from the beach. I loved having easy access to everything and we walked everywhere that weekend.

On Saturday morning we walked along the beach to the Pig 'N Pancake for breakfast.  It was PERFECT weather at the Oregon coast...unlike most times when I am here.  Blue skies and no wind! Beautiful and peaceful.

After breakfast we did a little shopping in town. We found some cute sea shells for their mermaid/under the sea themed bathroom and of course, we had to buy a t-shirt.  My girls love destination t-shirts.

After lunch we had yummy Tillamook ice cream

then headed back down to the beach to fly kites and play at the beach for a little while.  By afternoon, the wind had picked up so we could get our kites out.

Dinner was fish and chips, then after a shower we walked down to the beach again for sunset.

Sunday morning we spent a few hours at the beach before heading back home.

It was a perfect "girls weekend".    We had so much fun, we have decided to make it an annual tradition.
