Oh Canada, how we love you....

A few weekends ago, we traveled to Whistler BC for a little family weekend trip.  We love all things in BC.  I have been to Whistler a couple of times in the winter but never in the summer.  Our kids love going anywhere.

We drove up on Friday and stopped at Horseshoe Bay (just north of Vancouver) for lunch.

We also stopped at Brandywine falls for a short hike.

We arrived in Whistler in the late afternoon. We checked into our condo in the Upper Village, went to Whistler village for dinner then back to the condo for swimming and bed.

Saturday morning we woke up to a glorious sunny day.

We took the gondola up Whistler mountain

Then did a short hike down to the chairlift that takes you to the tip top of Whistler mountain.  Yes, there was snow and a snow tunnel.  My girls thought it was amazing.

We took the chairlift up the mountain.

The view from the top was beyond amazing.

Back down we went to hike back up to the gondola station.

We had lunch with an amazing view

before riding the Peak to Peak Gondola that goes between Whistler and Blackcomb.

When we got to the Blackcomb side we looked around then rode the glass bottomed Gondola back to the Whistler side.

Then down one more gondola to the village.  The girls had a very fun time and did great with all the new things they tried today.

When we got back down to the village we had ice cream at Cows and did some shopping for destination t-shirts (of course).  Later that evening we went to the kids carnival at the base of Blackcomb where the girls tried trampoline bungy jumping.

Dinner then bed for two very very tired little girls.

In the morning we had breakfast of Lucky Charms (our Canada treat) and a few donut holes from Tim Horton's.

We stopped by Lost Lake

and Shannon Falls on our way home to Seattle.

Canada is never a disappointment.  We love going there.

Next up:  Colorado and Utah.  The summer fun continues.

Girls Weekend - Cannon Beach OR June 2017

Wow!  For a family that loves to travel, somehow we took a10 month hiatus.  I really don't know how that happened.  Well, yes, I do. Two kids in school and expensive traveling on holidays.  But I was honestly surprised when I pulled up my blog and realized we have not gone ANYWHERE since August of last year. Not even a weekend trip to Canada.  CRAZY!  Luckily, we have moved forward and we have several trips on the books for summer.

In early June, James went to Salt Lake to attend a wedding.  So, while the Dad's away...the girls will play.   I took my littles to one of my favorite places on earth.....Cannon Beach OR.  As a single lady living in Portland many years ago, I went to Cannon Beach a lot with friends. It's a very special place for me and always makes my heart happy.   I think my girls now feel the same.

We drove down on a Friday afternoon and made it to the beach just in time for sunset.

This trip we stayed at The Waves which is a hotel right in the middle of downtown Cannon Beach, one block from the shops and half a block from the beach. I loved having easy access to everything and we walked everywhere that weekend.

On Saturday morning we walked along the beach to the Pig 'N Pancake for breakfast.  It was PERFECT weather at the Oregon coast...unlike most times when I am here.  Blue skies and no wind! Beautiful and peaceful.

After breakfast we did a little shopping in town. We found some cute sea shells for their mermaid/under the sea themed bathroom and of course, we had to buy a t-shirt.  My girls love destination t-shirts.

After lunch we had yummy Tillamook ice cream

then headed back down to the beach to fly kites and play at the beach for a little while.  By afternoon, the wind had picked up so we could get our kites out.

Dinner was fish and chips, then after a shower we walked down to the beach again for sunset.

Sunday morning we spent a few hours at the beach before heading back home.

It was a perfect "girls weekend".    We had so much fun, we have decided to make it an annual tradition.
