We tried to go to Akaka Falls, but it was raining SO hard that we were soaked just getting out of the car in the parking lot, so we didn't end up walking out to the falls. Elin had a cough and we didn't want her to get wet and cold.
We had lunch in Hilo at Cafe Pesto, one of our favorite restaurants on the island.
At Volcano National Park it was still raining and very foggy, so we didn't get to see much (and I didn't take any pictures). We headed back towards Kona and stopped at Punalu'u Beach for pictures at the beautiful black sand beach.
The next day we took Grandma Aila to the pool and to the Keiki pools. Elin LOVES playing in the sand and water and has turned into quite the water bug.
We had a nice Father's Day on Sunday,
Then took Grandma to the airport after stopping for shave ice
This one got a little messy! |
Elin's pool outfit, love the tiny flip flops |
We were able to do a little more snorkeling
Humuhumunukunukuapuaa - Hawaii's state fish |
We also saw some beautiful sunsets.

It has been a relaxing and fun trip. This has been a different vacation for James and I. Normally we would be going going going the whole time we are gone. With a baby we had to slow down and be in the condo most afternoons so that she could nap. I had wondered how we would do with a 10.5 month old baby. I have to say that it has been a lot better then I ever would have imagined. I have enjoyed having time every afternoon to read, nap or just relax. It has been a true vacation. Elin is a great baby and she was made for our family...she is a good traveler. She adapted easily to the time change and our temporary "home". I think she is going to be a bit bored when we get home without pool or beach time every day.
Aloha Hawaii--until we meet again.

So glad you guys had a great time!
ReplyDeleteAh, total paradise. I like the idea of slowing down and enjoying a quite moment in the afternoon. Otherwise you feel like you need a vacation after your vacation. You photos are so pretty - look like postcards!
