WHISTLER British Columbia

This past weekend we went on a road trip to Whistler BC.  This was Elin's first trip out of the country.  We are teaching her early that international travel is fun!  James' sister Julie and his friend Scott flew in and joined us on the trip.

James, Julie and Scott skied on Friday.

Elin and I hung out in the village and did a little shopping in the morning then rode the gondola up Whistler mountain to meet them for lunch.

I love this gondola ride and the amazing view of Whistler village. Unfortunately, it was a really foggy and snowy day so there wasn't a lot to see.

Elin thought it was fun to go up on the gondola...well, really she loves any thing that involves getting out of the house and riding in her stroller.  But she was a super great little girl and didn't make a peep the entire time we were out.

We had lunch...

Then we all took the Peak to Peak gondola from Whistler mountain across to Blackcomb. I was really excited to do this gondola ride, it's new in the last couple of years and sounds so incredible. Here is the information from their website:

BREAKING WORLD RECORDS.

CONNECTING MOUNTAINS.

Spanning the distance between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains, the new world record-breaking PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola is a breathtaking, 4.4-kilometre journey to infinite possibilities. Redefining the Whistler summer experience by creating limitless new ways to get up-close-and-personal with the mountains, this engineering marvel breaks three world records.
  • Longest unsupported span of 3.024 kilometres
  • Highest lift of its kind at 436 metres above the valley floor
  • Completes the longest continuous lift system on the globe
I had hoped to see this view...

But this is what I actually saw...

Oh well, maybe next time.

On Saturday we all hung out in the village, did some shopping, took a nap and just relaxed.

That evening we celebrated Elin's half birthday by going out for crepes.

and Elin fell asleep in her stroller. Poor tired baby!  She missed the whole party.

Sunday we headed home, which of course was an absolutely beautiful day in Whistler.

We stopped for quick visit at Horseshoe Bay

then had lunch in Vancouver at the Granville market before coming back across the US border. Elin is such a great traveler already and loves being out and about.  Which is a good thing since we intend to take her around the world with us.

  1. FUN! I haven't been to Whistler in forever. I'm glad Elin was a good little traveler - she's in for a lot more with you two! :)
