Hawaiian Journey by Jenny, Part 1

Amy has a friend named Jenny who used to live on Oahu and comes back every year.  Jenny gave us a great list of all the "must do" things in Oahu.  Here are a few things that we have completed so far:

Malasadas at Leonards

Malasadas are like a donut without the hole (but fluffy and better!) covered in sugar.   Amy called it a "ball of doughy goodness" which is an accurate description.

Breakfast at Wailana Coffee House

We had the all you can eat macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup and Portuguese sausage.  They were amazing!  None of us could finish the first helping though.

We went to a swap meet that had 700 stalls that circled the perimeter of the Aloha stadium.

It had everything a tourist could ever want or need.

We had pineapple with li hing mui powder (salty dried plum powder).  It is a local favorite.

We had lunch at the ShoreBird....

and spent the late afternoon at Waikiki beach again.

James is doing his hula in the sunset.

We capped off the night with a drink at the Halekulani hotel.

Another great day.  Jenny, thanks for the suggestions. We have loved them all so far!

  3. James, I hope you are not thinking of coming back to the office with a box of the Malasadas....

Also I am glad you all are upholding the tradition of not holing back on food while on vacation...my only saving grace was I did enough walking to offset it's effects to a small degree...:-)
